Join us on Wednesday, October 11 to celebrate the release of Rosa Lowinger’s book “Dwell Time: A Memoir of Art, Exile, and Repair”, the first memoir by a working conservator of art and historic buildings. The author will be in conversation with artist Nereida Garcia-Ferraz at Istituto Marangoni’s Library. Book signing and rooftop reception to follow.
ROSA LOWINGER is a Cuban-born, Miami-raised art conservator specializing in sculpture and architecture. She is the founder and co-chief conservator of RLA Conservation of Art + Architecture, a firm with offices in Miami and L.A. A graduate of NYU's Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Program, and a Fellow of American Institute for Conservation and the Association for Preservation Technology, Rosa was the 2008-09 Rome Prize Fellow in Conservation at the American Academy in Rome, where she researched the history of vandalism and iconoclasm. She has curated the exhibitions “Concrete Paradise: Miami Marine Stadium at the Coral Gables Museum” and “Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction” at the Wolfsonian. Her books include Tropicana Nights: The Life and Times of the Legendary Cuban Nightclub, and Dwell Time: A Memoir of Art, Exile and Repair.
